Our Healthy Year: Year 6 leaflet for school nursing teams

A Leaflet for school nursing teams to give to Year 6 pupils before measuring day, as part of the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP).

School nursing teams may wish to give copies of this leaflet to all Year 6 pupils before measuring day as a conversation starter, ensuring that they feel positive about being weighed and measured, and understand what will happen. It’s also an opportunity to deliver messages about eating well and moving more to all pupils, including those who have opted out of the NCMP. School nurses could ask teachers to print copies and put them in pupils’ book bags to take home, or print copies themselves and give them to pupils on measuring day.

Our Healthy Year is a set of resources to help build healthy behaviours in pupils during the school years in which they are weighed and measured as part of the NCMP.
