Our Healthy Year: leaflet for school nursing teams
A leaflet to help school nurses and their teams to explain the benefits of using the Our Healthy Year resources with Reception and Year 6 pupils in the school years in which they are weighed and measured.
School nursing teams may wish to use this one-page leaflet to tell schools about the Our Healthy Year resources, and the benefits of using them with Reception and Year 6 pupils to get everyone eating well and moving more in the two school years in which the NCMP takes place.
The leaflet can be sent by email or printed and taken into school and given to a headteacher or other member of the senior leadership team, Reception or Year 6 classroom teachers or the Head of PSHE. It can also be used in other community settings or in the home.
Our Healthy Year is a set of resources to help build healthy habits in pupils during the school years in which they are weighed and measured as part of the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP).
Other Our Healthy Year resources for school nursing teams delivering the NCMP include presentations for reception, year 6 and parents, a year 6 leaflet and a healthy diary template. The resources are adaptable and can be used in a variety of ways depending on the approach used in different schools. Additional resources for school nursing teams will be available soon.
Our Healthy Year headteacher resources, a reception teacher toolkit and a year 6 teacher toolkit, resources are available.
