Sugar Swaps activity cards

Teach children how much sugar is in their food and how to make healthier food choices.

A colourful resource, which could form part of a lesson on healthier snacks.

Try this!

This is a great take-home activity to encourage parents to get involved, too.

Curriculum

Supports Science and Mathematics

Science
Animals, including humans

  • Describe the importance of exercise for humans, eating the right amounts of different types of food, and hygiene

Key Stage 2

  • Recognise the impact of diet, exercise, drugs and lifestyle on the way their bodies function

Mathematics
Ratio and Proportion

In the classroom

Why not use the cards as part of an activity by asking children to take a card and think what they could swap to. Flip the card over and see if they were right.

Top tip: Take a look at the sugar facts leaflet to help you give the right advice if children suggest snacks or meals that are not recommended.
