Be Food Smart: assembly presentation

This assembly PowerPoint presentation is a quick way to help pupils find out what's in their food and encourage them to make healthier swaps so they eat less sugar, saturated fat and salt.

Try this

Prepare two measured amounts of sugar to show pupils or to pass around. 

Show the maximum daily sugar amount for a child aged 7 to 10 (6 cubes, or 24 grams), a child aged 4 to 6 (5 cubes, or 19 grams), and how much children consume in practice (13 cubes, or 52 grams)

The PowerPoint presentation links to a Be Food Smart assembly film, featuring two children acting as investigative reporters to find out how they can eat a healthier breakfast. The assembly can stand alone, or be used before delivering a lesson using the Be Food Smart: KS1 toolkit or the Be Food Smart: KS2 toolkit.
