Jess’s Rule: Three strikes and we rethink

Jess’s Rule is a patient safety initiative in primary care, supporting GP teams to critically re-evaluate if a patient presents three times, with the same or escalating symptoms or concerns and an existing treatment plan is not working.

Jess’s Rule is overseen by the Department of Health and Social Care and NHS England and was envisioned by Andrea and Simon Brady, parents of Jess. It is supported by the Royal College of General Practitioners.
